A young man is dead and another fighting for his life after a car crashed into a truck parked on the wrong side of the road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The crash happened on Radford Road, Reservoir, when the driver of a Holden Commodore crashed into the rear of a parked tray truck just before 3am.
Police say the driver, a man in his 30s, died at the scene while his male passenger, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
The tray truck, which was parked on the side of the road, was unoccupied.
The driver of the car is still to be formally identified. Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw the red Holden SS Commodore sedan travelling north on Radford Road before the collision.
The fatal accident takes Victoria’s road toll to 48, compared to 34 people dead by the same time last year.
