Man guilty of murder for stabbing victim in Sydney shop

A man with a suspicion that he was about to be ambushed has been found guilty of murdering another man who was stabbed in a shoes and accessories shop in Sydney’s south-west.

Douglas Johnson, 47, had pleaded not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to murdering David Morrison, 41, on June 29, 2017, in the Campsie store.

CCTV footage in the shop captured the incident, although it happened some distance from the camera and there was no sound.

Justice Stephen Campbell — who heard the trial without a jury — on Friday found Johnson guilty of murder, rejecting a claim of self-defence and finding he had intended to cause his victim really serious injury.
