The town says fraudsters are soliciting money for a seniors charity.
Montreal West issued a warning Friday about a telephone scam in which residents of the town received calls soliciting donations for seniors in the region.
The callers made reference to a survey that was sent out to seniors in the neighbourhood in November 2018 to make their call for donations sound legitimate.
The Town of Montreal West said it has not endorsed any charity of this sort.
Residents are advised not to give out personal, credit card or online account details over the phone, and to contact Montreal police by dialling 911 to report any suspicious calls.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre can also be of help and can be reached at 1-888-495-8501.
