The Handmaid’s Tale season three: Australian premiere date revealed

June Osborne is returning to our television screens in, well, June.

On Tuesday, SBS confirmed season three of Hulu’s critically-acclaimed drama The Handmaid’s Tale will be fast-tracked to Australia, meaning viewers will receive new episodes on the same day as they air in the US.

Season three will consist of 13 episodes and is due to pick up where season two left off, with SBS saying the story will centre around June (played by Elisabeth Moss) struggling to fight back against the authoritarian, theocratic regime of Gilead against all odds.

The latest instalment will see Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski return to her role, along with the likes of Joseph Fiennes, Alexis Bledel and Madeline Brewer. American actress Ann Dowd will also make a comeback, suggesting the terrifying Aunt Lydia isn’t dead — or that she will, at the very least, appears in flashbacks.
